I think its pretty important for us to establish favorite pairings so I'll go first.

Without a doubt its Tsuzuki and Hisoka. To put it simply these two were born for one another. They may close themselves off from the others but its clear that they can't do that to each other. They know each other too well for that. Their relationship can be dark and intense but at the same time it can be the sweet and sincere.

yes, indeed! and as odd as it may sound, its a good thing they went through everything in their life that they did, or they may not have met. i can actually find it in my heart to thank muraki, as he essentially brought hisoka to tsuzuki. but yeah, they totally belong together FOREVER!!! ^_^

I agree with that. I don't think Hisoka and Tsuzuki would be as close as they are if they haven't been through the experiences they had to endure.

It's still a bit sad though to have to go through such excruciating suffering, but Tsuzuki and Hisoka is my favourite pairing too. Very Happy

it IS sad that they had to go thru all that stuff... but then again, good things come to those who wait! im sure theyre VERY happy their wating time is over and they now have each other *nods wisely*

As all my acquaintances/friends have come to find out, I am quite indeed a fan of Tsuzuki and Hisoka. Though I do like other particular pairings within the series, I find this one to be my favorite. I enjoy their dynamic, their interactions, and the general manner in which they just seem to work

Naturally, I agree with the statement that their own individual suffering allowed them to relate to each other and ultimately grow closer. Despite the past experiences that set them off on odds upon the first meeting, they were really made to work around the negatives in the face of their dilemmas. They have a profound sort of understanding for one another, even though Tsuzuki has not revealed all and even though Hisoka proceeds to put up a front in order to shoo him away. (Which, in all honesty, never worked.) They both, really, are drawn together by their mutual experiences of loneliness, shunning, and rejection (either by society or family or both).

It seems like they have built a very delicate stability from each other. Hisoka’s reaction in the Kyoto Arc have shown this. Tsuzuki’s reactions in the late Gensoukai Arc have also displayed this (though, that may be vaguely questionable. I think, however, it is a good example). Even the small bits and pieces of their everyday “lives” have really indicated this. Tsuzuki’s worrying and care, Hisoka’s very awkward attempts at comforting in the beginning (in reference to the Devil’s Trill segment) being prime examples.

Not to mention, the quite apparent and shared goal of ridding the world of Muraki is a key factor in this particular relationship. They have quite a bit of relativity built upon this. This shared motivation is a binding element.

However, this is all left up to opinion. This just mine.

I also have a rather developed liking for Tatsumi and Watari, but instead of rambling on for eternity in one post, I shall later revisit this.

(In essence, I must have half-summarized all that was really known to begin with. Hahaa.)

That's alright, I've posted so much on Tsuzuki and Hisoka over the net especailly in the forums on fanfiction.net, my brain buzzes everytime I think about them now. But more in a happy heady drugged way. The natural dynmic of their relationship is wonderful, Measuringtime has put together a good construct about the appeal of Tsuzuki and Hisoka. Its not just an opposites meet thing they both truly grow together and it's amazing how the compassion between the two is given freely without the information that other people have to know before they can understand someone enough to give them sympathy and comfort. So theres the understanding that they know eachother on a deeper level.

Tsusoka- my favorite pairing in Yami no Matsuei. I've always had a
thing for equality, and that's exactly what this getup is.. Balance.

Tsuzuki makes Hisoka feel needed in such a powerful way- he makes him
feel far more useful than he'd ever been in his 'past life'. So his
empathy, his personality.. everything that he has that MAKES him Hisoka,
Tsuzuki accepts; therefore making him feel 'loved'. And as the saying
goes, Hisoka's bark is far worse than his bite.

Hisoka is Tsuzuki's 'outlet'- his empathy can provide a way for his
suppressed emotions to flow forth again. Even through all his false smiles
and cheerful front, Hisoka's ability makes his feelings come clean. =D

As I said in the FF.net forums that was a wonderful sum up clear and precise about what exactly is attractive about the Tsusoka pairing.

This is an essay of mine from the ff.net forum, I've mixed and matched a bit because I have quite a few ramblings there,

Tsuzuki and Hisoka are the pairing that a lot of people are simply just jealous of. Tsuzuki and Hisoka are the most strongest shounen-nai overtoned couple in the book and series, and they have the strongest bond.

Because some fans like other characters better, they'll twist things in their head so they can warp the story into something it has no basis in. I like crack pairings, and don't mind seeing Hisoka or Tsuzuki with other people but it has to be done right. Fluff with our favourite duo and Muraki??-I think not, not unless you are a master writter and are able to write something unfathomble whilst SOMEHOW making it believable at the same time. Hah good luck though!

I agree, Tsuzuki hides his pain and I think the others do kind of encourage it by coodling Tsuzuki a little too much, or by just going along with those masks he continues to wear, where as Hisoka is more direct, he refuses to be pushed away, and just says it how things need to be said, there's no mind games or tiptoeing, and those Tsu crocidile tears that seem to get even the wall strong Tatsumi have basically no effect on Hisoka. Plus Hisoka's empathy makes it more difficult for Tsuzuki to hide, so theres that chance that he'll, in the end, have to confront his problems, no breaking down, stiffening, crying, running away, self harm or suicide attempts, because he'll have a reliable aid of mental strength by his side that won't let him and a reason to live and fight for.

The fact that Tsuzuki has that sympathy means that Hisoka may eventually face the problems he has as well (which are many), especially that bizzare obsession with power!-gaud!!, and that disturbing anger and (though understandable), really unhealthy desire for revenge, one almost as bad as Muraki's, (*note* that Muraki was upset Saki died because HE wanted to kill Saki, and that Hisoka was upset in Vol 3 that Muraki died because HE wanted to kill Muraki himself), Hisoka has some dark tendices that need attending to, and to stop repressing his problems and focusing them on revenge and power, because such things will not clear his pain. Tsuzuki's attitude of sympathy and kindness and compassion stand as an example and can teach Hisoka who has only known cruelty in his life how to simulate such things, how to focus energies on more positive and cheerful things, and most importantly Tsuzuki's excessive sympathy will coax Hisoka out of his shell without the fear that he'll be defeanseless with it gone, because Hisoka won't be, he'll have a loving family in one partner who can wrap him in the kinds of emotions his been starved of i childhood.

Hey even in the programme the Chief and the Count are discussing how they deliberately paired those two up!! Because they kinda knew what would happen and the maturity between the two that would take place.

Hisoka: Emapthy Tsuzuki: Sympathy
Hisoka: Mental Strength Tsuzuki: Physical strength
Hisoka: Adult attitude but teenager Tsuzuki: Childlike attitude but elderly wisdom
Hisoka: Unwanted Tsuzuki: Needy

But still- an EXCELLENT way of putting my favorite pairing- I couldn't have done any better. XP

But I agree with our moddie right there.. every single point.

And besides- it helps to understand what the character has gone through.. But I don't mean getting your sister killed, or getting abused in a basement for sixteen years.

What I mean is simply to keep what their past experiences were in your mind when you read/write about them.. and the pairing REALLY then comes to life. =D
