I'm interested in peoples view of Muraki pairings, because it can be a fickle subject. Some people can only see him with his wife, others adore the Muriya pairing, some swoon over the TsuzukixMuraki pairing, and we can't ignore MurakixHisoka shippers, some people can't even see the man with anybody at all. Some say Muraki IS capable of love, some say only lust. I've heard fans say Muraki doesn't feel at all, or only feels hate. So what's your take on pairing up Muraki. What do you feel about everyones favourite doctor in relationships.

Honestly, I don't have a favorite Muraki pairing. As I've said before, I have a lot of trouble seeing him with anyone besides Ukyou or Oriya, but I don't have any investment in either pairing.

Gasp! Veleda doesn't have a strong opinion on something? Is the world coming to an end?

I chose Ukyou, because she's his wife, man. ::shrugs:: He doesn't treat Oriya very well, Tsuzuki's just a tool to get Saki back into the world, Saki killed his freakin' parents, for God's sake, and Hisoka was just a convinent victim for him one night. Well, in my opinion, that is.

i definatley had to go with none. out of all the villians in the stories i've read....i'd have to say i like muraki the least. he's just too messed up to be in a relationship that he wouldn't consider taking advantage of. I just can't see him having done all the terrible things he's done and still be capable of actually loving someone. but that could just be me.

Many cruel murders and evil doers are famed for having double lives which is what Muraki lives, the only crossover between these lives is Oriya obviously.

He has a doctors practice, patients, a fiancee, saves lives, that's his public life, whilst at the same time he murders and destroys lives. I've seen many a time on the news in fact people making comments about the child rapist or killer they found out was living on their street as seeming normal and having a loving relationship with their wife. Or once a wife herself who was involved in a good relationship with her husband whilst painfully unaware that he was taking advantage of children at the shool he worked at.

Malevelonce doesn't automatically cancel out the human need for love. As the saying goes, it's often the devil who needs/wants love the most. I probably am not totally buying my own the words but I just want to bring up some idea's because I'm the ultimate devils advocate. Though I can see on a strong level (possibly because I've said it somewhere myself) where kis4me is coming from. Even if Muraki had a relationship it's hard to see it being healthy, though still we don't know what his interactions with Ukyou were like to fully confirm this.

I think that Muraki is actually pretty devoted to Ukyo-san.

Yes- I'm a hopeless romantic~ ^^'

He might be a sadistic, evil, twisted murderer and manipulator, but he can still have the right to love- and he takes every possible advantage at that.

A line from X/1999 I've read comes to mind:

But nobody is this world is beyond the reach of love. Even if you have commited sins that can never be made right- you are still allowed to LOVE.

Muraki's word's for Ukyo wouldn't defintely back up that claim. So I doubt it's because your a hopeless romantic and so far the Mukyo pairing is above the rest in terms of votes.

devils advocate is never a bad thing! Smile

I definatley agree with the line about violence not canceling out the need for love. I also am only on volume 4 of the manga (have seen the anime though), so i may be way off base and not even have a clue, but here i go anyway.

From what I've seen, he definatley does lead a double life in that he is a doctor, but once again, that's really just a means to an end. I think he could really care less about saving lives (Tsubaki for instance)

He did have a pretty twisted childhood, so maybe if someone took the time to help him out, I wouldn't discount the posibilities that could bring about. But, i don't know if i could picture him activley looking for that. And i know nothing about Ukyo, so I can't make any comments on that.

lol, maybe i'm reading too much into this. or maybe my love for hisoka is taining my view on the doctor Wink

@__@ I don't know what I wrote earlier either, that's not even bad spelling that's all out poor english, I was just pointing out that Muraki's words for Ukyo would confirm a lot of what other people have said. And I think the votes also say a lot for what people think about shipping Muraki as he and his wife is far ahead. Kis4me, your view on Muraki may not change but it may gain a new insight when you reach the kyoto arc in the book. It's like volume 7 and 8.
