Hisoka woke slowly that morning and looked around the hospital room with confused eyes. As Watari approached he began to have quick flash backs.

"TSUZUKI!" His soft voice. "I have to go. i'm so sorry." a strong hand and a firm voice. "We didn't want you here." A whirling feeling as a black shadow appeared from the door and then nothing.

He looked up at Watari. "What happened?" Watari frowned and sat beside him, taking his hand. "how can i say this?...It was his time." Hisoka shook his head. "but that thing! that thing that did that to me!" Watari grimmaced. "That was Enma. Tsuzuki has always belonged to him. here...he left you a letter, explaining everything."

Watari reached into his pocket and pulled out an envelope. "Read it slowly and take your time trying to understand it. When you're done you should go to see Tatsumi. He was worried about you."

Hisoka took the letter and shook his head as tears began to form in his eyes. "I can't read it right now. he's really gone?" Watari nodded with a heavy sigh. "We didn't want you to be there when he went away because we knew Enma was coming to get him."

Hisoka put the envelope in his own pocket and tested his feet, happy to find he wasn't dizzy, just extreemely depressed now. "I'll go see Tatsumi first."

Watari nodded. "He'll be in the office, that's where he's been since..." he took the blonds hand and looked into his eyes. "perhaps you can comfort each other. you and he share a common bond after all." Hisoka's eyes widened for a moment but he shook off the shock and nodded as he left.

he made his way nervously down the halls, half listening to the whispers of the others as he went. it felt different. he knew Tsuzuki wasn't there because everything seemed just a little darker. He knocked softly on Tatsumi's office door, noting that the shadows blocked the windows so no one could see in. 'Cheater...' he thought to himself.

"Tatsumi-san...Watari tells me you were worried...may i come in?"

The door opened immediately and there stood Tatsumi, adjusting his glasses with a plain look on his face as though nothing had happened at all. "Kurosaki," he said, "please, come in."

Hisoka looked up at him for a moment but then stepped in. "I'm sorry you were worried about me."

he glanced around the office as he stepped carefully towards the chair in front of the desk. The shadows made it a bit darker than usual and he was a bit unnerved by them.

"how long have I been out? Watari seemed more intent on me seeing you than anything. Although, Watari knows me well enough now to know if i'm alright. Are you alright? He was worried about you."

"Why should he worry about me?" Tatsumi asked, almost stubbornly, "you were the one who was asleep for a week and a half. At first they were afraid that your healing powers couldn't fix you this time. You were critical." He grabbed a stack of papers and tapped them on the desk to straighten them.

Hisoka's eyes widened. "what the hell did he do to me then?! i was upset but i wasn't even dizzy! Watari said that thing in the hallway was Enma, he did something to me."

he looked away. "Watari i think is worried because he said you haven't come out of your office since then."

he held back a suddenly onslaught of tears. "he also thought we might be able to comfort each other. the way he sounded was that you were upset too. i know i shouldn't be. but i feel scared now."

he wrapped his arms around himself as he stared at his feet. "i need to keep myself together."

Tatsumi walked up behind the boy and did something very uncharacteristic of himself. He wrapped an arm loosely around Hisoka's shoulders in the only thing Tatsumi had given that was close to a hug in about forty years. "You're not alone, Kurosaki," he said, "if you need help you know that I, or Watari or Konoe or Wakaba or any of the others, will give you whatever we can, right?"

he nodded as he looked up. "Do you think it would be okay if i helped you out around the office...until they find me a new partner?" he sighed deeply and closed his eyes. "Could i convince you to come stay the night at my place? it's...so weird to think i'll be alone." he thought silently for a moment. "i guess...i know this is going to sound strange but i don't know if you ever knew about Tsuzuki and i. it just dawned on me that you all may not have known...except Watari." he blushed a bit.

Tatsumi nodded. "I knew... simply because of the way he looked at you," he said,
don't forget, I've known Tsuzuki for a very long time and he's not very good at hiding his emotions, even from those who aren't empathic. And if you wish for company, I don't mind coming... I may be better off with someone to talk to tonight as well... If you wish, I could cook you dinner."

Hisoka smiled softly at this. "i'm glad i don't have to explain it then. i'd love it if you cooked." he gave a slightl chuckle. "i think i can trust you with my kitchen. although we may need to go to the store."

Tatsumi tilted his head to the side ever so slightly, the motion barely noticeable. He righted the confusion almost immediately and offered one of his best salesman smiles. "I don't mind at all," he said, "we'll have to talk about what you like to eat, be we can do that while we're going after it." He wasn't sure what to say now. "Did you want me to ask Konoe if you can have a leave?"
