I've investigated the problems with the BBcode situation. I found nothing wrong in the html, or around the panel, so I asked the freeforum.org and apparently there ARE some bugs in the spell checker. It seems to disable the BBcode for some reason. They said the only way to really get it to work is to take the spell checker off.
So it's kind of up to others, would you prefer the BBcode or the spellchecker. I often end up putting the BBcode in anyway and I could post a subject on how to use it. On a side note, the spell checker probably isn't all that great and it's easier to press a button when posting then to sit down writing the code out.
So it's kind of up to you.

The votes have been a tie so far.
In the end I have chosen BBcode mainly because the spellcheck had a few bugs and was interferring with the forum.
I will find an alternative spellcheck for the forum soon, until then, sorry for all the problems and enjoy the return of the forum buttons.
