Crack pairings!Shooting Canon with crack shipsShippers who dream up the weirdest pairings.... What's your take on crack pairings? Is fanon a horrible thing or do you find the varied world a breath of fresh air from the more common pairings. I'm saying this especially in relation to yami no matsuei by the way. What's your favourite crack pairing in YnM? What's the weirdest one you've ever seen? Are you a shipper of a crack pairing and if you are what attracts you to that particularly bizzare couple and do you see it actually working? Has anybody seen a fanon pairing fanfic that has pulled it off? Have you thought of crack pairings but are too shy to come out of the closet, or too lazy to write one in fic? Well look no further then this humble little thread... I'm very intrigued and undecided in my take on YnM crack pairings which is why I want to know what others think. So jump aboard and lets hear your opinions. I don't have favourites at all because I haven't explored the fanon/crack pairing fandom of Yami no Matsuei yet, but I have spotted some rare pairings so far..... Actually, I think the first order of business might be defining a crack pairing. Is it different from an alternate pairing? A rare pairing? I think that some people who like uncommon pairings probably wouldn't like to see their favorites labled "crack."
It's also important to remember that one of the most popular pairings in the fandom, Tatsumi/Watari, isn't any more canon that Tatsumi/Hisoka. |

Very true Veleda, I suppose the original definition of crack would be fanon, but it's grown to mean more 'small fanbase or uncommon and rare' nowadays.
I've never thought about the implications of crack before, but it is actually a very alienating term I could imagine canon lovers labelling those who think outside of what they're shipping. I myself have been round ff.net and no ones even brought that up before, even the crack/fanon pairing lovers and shippers. ~Coco |

Sohryu/Terazuma, Enma Daioh/Muraki, and Rikugo/Hakushaku anyone? I have links, too, if anyone wants 'em.

Okay, you can find them all here:
www.fanfiction.net/~macx She's been working on a YnM series, so the stories will be a bit confusing if you don't read them all of the way through, but the Sohryu/Terazuma starter one is "Catharsis", the Rikugo/Hakushaku one is "Phoenix", and the Enma Daioh/Muraki pairing comes in during the latest stories of the series. And currently Suzaku's paired up with someone mysterious, so you know it HAS to be crack. She also pairs up Tatsumi/Watari, Tsuzuki/Hisoka, and Touda/Byakko, and she uses also an unconventional pairing of Rikugo/Sohryu and Touda/Sohryu, which is wierd, but not so much crack as Sohryu/Terazuma. Yes, I've been following it for awhile now, but only because I want to see what wierd-ass ideas the authors are going to come up with NEXT.

I've seen (but not read) quite a few TerazumaxHisoka fics.
Some pairings though, one is not meant to contemplate. Or at least, I'm not--or else my brain just explodes And does TatsumixWatari count as crack? I have a weakness for that pairing, despite there being very little in the way of evidence in the manga XDD (I cooed when I realized Watari was towling off Tatsumi's hair in volume 11. Probably made him the tea, too x3) |

they call me the mistress of odd pairings for a reason. i just like to stir things up a bit. after seeing five thousand tsusoka fics with nearly identical plots, it's just kinda boreing.

Yami no Kaze's crack ruuuuules. I myself was supposed to be working on a TerazumaxHisoka fic myself, not so much in the way of romance, but with a little something there. So meh. I think Yami no Matsuei fans have pretty much made TatsumixWatari canon, when I think of crack I think, *looks over horizon* pairings that are waaay out there. |

Whispers of a ghost submitted some crazy pairings and idea's somewhere in the fanfiction thread I think. Some here also too maybe, but like, I find it difficult to find YnM crack strangely enough. It IS something I think you have to look for. Which is why I usually try to write the idea's I might dislike or find difficult to find myself. | ||||||||||

I love crack pairings! If someone created a YnM random pairings generator, I'd never get any university work done again (instead, I'd spend all my days trying to make Watson/Tsubaki and Gushoshin/Muraki work  )
They're not all crack, but I do gleefully pair up some of the strangest characters. At the moment, I'm trying to write Tatsumi/Saya/Yuma (what? He's so grumpy, they're so cute and squishy..) and Muraki/Touda (not the most fluffylicious pairing I've attempted  ), and I have an ongoing Tatsumi/Hisoka, although I'd count that as rare rather than crack.

I already wasted half an hour of my assignment-writing time making a quick pairings generator, which is now (amongst others) suggesting I write R rated Konoe/Riko with the theme 'Wrath'. At least that one probably isn't going to inspire me any time soon |

My generator was awful- there were spare bits of (stolen) code everywhere, the table looked as though someone had sat on it and I couldn't resist adding lots of 'humorous' themes in to entertain myself, so I've remade it here using more sane prompts and the code from LJ's randomvariables community. It's good for crack pairings anyway. ETA- just discovered envy.nu has started using really annoying pop-ups since I was last there. Be warned

Crack pairings are amazing. Currently, I'm on a crack!pairing! challenge for a 100 drabbles. Do wish me luck. XD;
And besides. What's the meaning of 'crack pairing', anyways? I mean.. is it a serious pairing where it's more of a funny/weird-looking couple? Like Gushoshin and Konoe? Or just a funny storyline? Wtf is crack, anyways? I'll leave this one an open ended question, then.

I'm another Tatsumi/Hisoka fan.
The more I think about, the less I like the term "crack pairing." It's too subjective, and you can end up insulting someone's fave pairing. Crack fics, on the other hand, are things of beauty. |
