Hisoka and Tatsumi are similar people; they are diligent, dedicated, and understand the value of hard work (unlike some members of the division). They are also discreet people. There’s no reason to spread their personal business around the office. Overblown declarations of love are foolish, and neither is comfortable with touching others in public anyway (Tsuzuki is the exception to this rule--another thing they share).

None of this is to say that they don’t find time to spend together even on busy days. A short conversation after turning in a report, meaningful looks while getting coffee, these moments are all the more valuable for their being understated.

Nobody knows, less because of secrecy than because neither of them can find the words. Will people understand? (“Will he understand?” they wonder, but don’t say.)

Today, however, is different, because yesterday Hisoka almost didn’t come home. Inadequate information from the higher ups nearly cost him his life, and even Tatsumi’s control can’t hide his agitation. That’s why Hisoka has slipped away to meet Tatsumi in a little-used hallway (though he can’t help feeling guilty for leaving Tsuzuki while he’s still so shaken and worried).

Tatsumi doesn’t even bother to speak, just pulls Hisoka into a fierce, almost desperate kiss. It’s a kiss that explains Tatsumi’s worry and concern far better than words could, and Hisoka allows himself to be lost in the feeling.

“Hisoka?” A familiar voice causes Hisoka and Tatsumi to leap away from each other, and stare guiltily into confused, purple eyes. For a moment Tsuzuki simply stares back. Then he screws his face into a pout. “It’s not fair if I don’t get to play too!” Tatsumi smiles; Hisoka’s lips twitch.

Tsuzuki isn’t at all discreet, but Hisoka and Tatsumi know they’ll have fun trying to teach him.

Well written, and I can see the parallels between them and yet..

My brain cannot wrap itself around Tatsumi and Hisoka being romantically involved XD (Nothing to do with you, or your fic perse, that's just how I view their situation.)

However, still a good story and I loved the last lines. I chuckled x3

Those last lines are so class. I chuckled too. A really enjoyable one shot. Again you have the much said with less words ability. Well done. ^__^
