five years forever my lovetitle: Five years forever my love
genre: romance/fluff
summery: Watari has ideas for the five year anniversery coming up of his and Tatsumi's. Can he keep it a secret?
rating: pg
Watari sat at his desk one afternoon, smacking his pen against his hand repeatedly in annoyence. He had three days to come up with something really special and all this thinking about Tatsumi and what he would do for their five year anniversery was quite a distraction from work. Finally an idea struck but to his dismay, it would take all of the three days left to prepare it. So he began to work right away on his plans.
---
To say that Tatsumi was in a bad mood that afternoon was quite possibly the understatement of the year. The entire month had practically gone to hell and he had stacks upon stacks of papers to fill out. As if that weren't bad enough, it was nearing the end of the month and he had to balance the ministries books. As he sat there steaming over the papers, writing as ast as his cramped hands would go, it was no wonder at all why he didn't notice the blond sneaking past his door. He never bothered to look up as Hisoka shouted something he didn't even hear....until said boy came tearing into his office. "Tatsumi-san." Tatsumi sighed deeply and glanced up. "Yes Hisoka-kun?" Anyone else would have been killed, but Tatsumi knew that if Hisoka was complaining, there was something to be complained about. "Watari just dragged Tsuzuki into a broom closet!" Tatsumi blinked a moment. "What do you mean? What's going on?" Hisoka placed his hands on his hips and glared. "I don't think I really want to know..." Tatsumi did a double take as the pair walked by and ignored Tatsumi's call for them to stop. He groaned and looked up at the fuming Hisoka. "I'm sure it's nothing dastardly. He and Tsuzuki are more like sisters than anything. Don't worry about it. I'll talk to him after I finish this stack." Hisoka blinked. "Wait...you're not upset?" Tatsumi closed his eyes momentarily. "I'm too tired and annoyed with the situation at hand to pay much attention to Watari's antics. I'm sure I'll be livid later..." Hisoka looked over the hge stacks and smiled a bit. "I'll help you. I'll start on this again and you can do the books." Tatsumi smiled at this, actually smiled. "That's very nice of you Hisoka-un. Thank you."
---
Watari snickered at Tsuzuki as they ducked into the lab. "Do you think it worked?" Tsuzuki almost giggled. "Yes...Hisoka seemed to be acting pretty well." Watari clapped his hands together with a smirk. "Down to buisness! First thing's first! Write down this list." Tsuzuki nodded and grabbed a sheet of paper and a pen. "K." Watari was silent a moment as he made sure of his items. "One white sheet. Four hundred, sixt centimeter quarts crystals. Two hundred tea candles. Eight Hundred taper candles. Glass bead strands in ten of every color, and A red rose." Tsuzuki was trying to imagine what Watari was going to do with these things but couldn't quite think of a way they'd be put together. "What next?" Watari grinned like a mad man. "We go shopping!"

yami no kaze: Tatsumi was actually quite greatful for Hisoka's help. They were actually making a dent, and the books were done for the month. But the closer they came to finishing, the more he began to think about Watari and Tsuzuki. What a strange thing to do, even by Watari's standards. "Hisoka-kun, did they give you any clue what was going on in there?" Hisoka shook his head, really having no idea himself. "They were thinking about brightly colored balloons to block what they were saying..." Tatsumi nodded silently and the two went back to their papers.

While Watari and Tsuzuki were getting the things Watari needed, they stopped to admire a jewelry store window. Watari was at once entranced by a sapphire pendant surrounded by five honey colored amber stones. "I'll be right back." Tsuzuki blinked as e watched Watari go in. After a moment the store clerk retrieved the pendant from the window and only a few moments after that, Watari reimmerged. "Watari?" Watari hummed to himself as he began to walk down the sidewalk again. "Yes?" Tsuzuki had to run to catch up to him. "Where are you getting all this money from?" Watari smiled brightly. "When Tatsumi asked me out five years ago, I knew I'd need a lot later on and I've been putting aside as much as I can since then to make our fifth as special as the night he asked me out." Tsuzuki smiled warmly. "You think Hisoka is doing that for me?" Watari smiled back and nodded. "He can afford more though..."
---
Tatsumi took deep breaths that evening as he sparred with Konoe in a kendo practice match. All the stress from the day before was finally being released. He was giving Konoe a run for his money until suddenly a thought crossed his mind and he stopped dead in his tracks. "I can't believe I forgot!" Konoe was only slightly relieved by this as it gave him a chance to catch his breath. "Forgot what?" Tatsumi was turning blue in the face. "Friday is Watari and my five year aniversery and I haven't gotten him anything!" Konoe smiled warmly and patted his shoulder. "You'll think of something I'm sure." But Tatsumi would have none of it. "We have to find something right now! I won't have time tomorrow and by Friday it'll be too late!" Konoe let out an exasperated sigh and nodded. "If you want to get him something nice I know a good jewelery store..."
---
Once back in Watari's lab, Tsuzuki stared at all the bags and watched Watari lock the pendant away in a drawer. "Remind me that's there Friday please." Tsuzuki nodded. "Anything else?" Watari shook his head. "You better head off and explain what was going on to Hisoka." Tsuzuki nodded and left. 'Now...' Watari thought to himself as he glanced out the window. 'I just need a good spot...'

Tatsumi and Konoe arrived as a suspisiously familiar jewelery store just twenty minutes before they closed. It didn't take Tatsumi long to pick something out. A radient blue sapphire pendant with five amber stones ringing it. The store clerk smiled as he got it out of the front window. "That's the last one. We only had two and a blond guy bought the other one earlier today." Tatsumi nodded. "I'm lucky then."

Thursday went by like a blurr to the two shinigami and each began to prepare for the next evening. Tatsumi had a table reserved at an exclusive sushi house, and he took great care to wrap the pendant. Like wise Watari was already setting things up. It would take him hours to get the candles just right and finding the right places to hang the beads. All the while he wore the pendant, afraid to lose it. He'd wrap it later. Both in their own spaces, Smiled at the same time as they thought of the look on the others face as they were presented with the rare and meaningful pendant.
---
When Watari learned of their going to dinner, he decided to give Tatsumi the pendant then, and just surprise him later. After they had shared a romantic dinner, Tatsumi and Watari both reached into their pockets at the same time and pulled out matching boxes. Tatsumi was the first to speak as he set the gift before Watari, and likewise, Watari set his gift before Tatsumi. "This gift represents us and the five wonderful years we've been together." Watari smiled softly and nodded. "I must say the same." So they both opened hem at the same time and stared up into each others eyes. "Wait a minute, I must have switched the boxes." They both said it in chorus and laughed, giveing each other the bioxes but they now blinked at what they held. "Watari...did you buy this wednesday afternoon?" Watari nodded, stiffling a laugh. "Did you buy this Wednesday evening?" Tatsumi chuckled sotly and nodded. "What are the chances of that?" Watari chuckled himself and took the pendant out of the box. "One in a million...like you." Tatsumi smiled warmly and took his out as well. They both slipped the pendants on with a laugh and spoke together again. "Happy anniversry."
---
Watari sent Tatsumi to shower as an exscuse to be able to get ut of the house for a few moments to light the candles. Once lit, he picked up Tatsumi and they walked out into the sakura. Tatsumi's breath suddenly cought in his throat as he saw qgat they were coming upon. A white sheet lay spread out on the ground. In the middle sat a vase with a single red rose. There was a circle of tea candles around the sheet and all through the tree branches above them, Watari had painsrakingly placed taper candles so that it looked as if they were growing from the tree. Thin and delicate tendrils of wax had begun to form like icicals. spread around the basses of the trees were large quarts crystals structurs, but the most defining features were the colorful glass beads, glittering in the soft candlelight as they swayed gently in the evening breeze. No words were spoken and Tatsumi kissed him deeply. They sat together beneath this wonder and spent the rest of the night, silently in each others arms.

Awwwwwwwwwww. I loved the imagery in the last paragraph. And how it built up, I was really curious as to what Watari was up to and what they were both going to get eachother. The exchange of gifts bit was too cute, a really lovely Tatari piece, do keep writing.
