Muraki and ?????I'm interested in peoples view of Muraki pairings, because it can be a fickle subject. Some people can only see him with his wife, others adore the Muriya pairing, some swoon over the TsuzukixMuraki pairing, and we can't ignore MurakixHisoka shippers, some people can't even see the man with anybody at all. Some say Muraki IS capable of love, some say only lust. I've heard fans say Muraki doesn't feel at all, or only feels hate. So what's your take on pairing up Muraki. What do you feel about everyones favourite doctor in relationships.

Honestly, I don't have a favorite Muraki pairing. As I've said before, I have a lot of trouble seeing him with anyone besides Ukyou or Oriya, but I don't have any investment in either pairing.
Gasp! Veleda doesn't have a strong opinion on something? Is the world coming to an end?

I chose Ukyou, because she's his wife, man. ::shrugs:: He doesn't treat Oriya very well, Tsuzuki's just a tool to get Saki back into the world, Saki killed his freakin' parents, for God's sake, and Hisoka was just a convinent victim for him one night. Well, in my opinion, that is.

i definatley had to go with none. out of all the villians in the stories i've read....i'd have to say i like muraki the least. he's just too messed up to be in a relationship that he wouldn't consider taking advantage of. I just can't see him having done all the terrible things he's done and still be capable of actually loving someone. but that could just be me.

Many cruel murders and evil doers are famed for having double lives which is what Muraki lives, the only crossover between these lives is Oriya obviously.
He has a doctors practice, patients, a fiancee, saves lives, that's his public life, whilst at the same time he murders and destroys lives. I've seen many a time on the news in fact people making comments about the child rapist or killer they found out was living on their street as seeming normal and having a loving relationship with their wife. Or once a wife herself who was involved in a good relationship with her husband whilst painfully unaware that he was taking advantage of children at the shool he worked at.
Malevelonce doesn't automatically cancel out the human need for love. As the saying goes, it's often the devil who needs/wants love the most. I probably am not totally buying my own the words but I just want to bring up some idea's because I'm the ultimate devils advocate. Though I can see on a strong level (possibly because I've said it somewhere myself) where kis4me is coming from. Even if Muraki had a relationship it's hard to see it being healthy, though still we don't know what his interactions with Ukyou were like to fully confirm this.

I think that Muraki is actually pretty devoted to Ukyo-san.
Yes- I'm a hopeless romantic~ ^^'
He might be a sadistic, evil, twisted murderer and manipulator, but he can still have the right to love- and he takes every possible advantage at that.
A line from X/1999 I've read comes to mind:
But nobody is this world is beyond the reach of love. Even if you have commited sins that can never be made right- you are still allowed to LOVE.
|

|
Muraki's word's for Ukyo wouldn't defintely back up that claim. So I doubt it's because your a hopeless romantic and so far the Mukyo pairing is above the rest in terms of votes.

devils advocate is never a bad thing!
I definatley agree with the line about violence not canceling out the need for love. I also am only on volume 4 of the manga (have seen the anime though), so i may be way off base and not even have a clue, but here i go anyway.
From what I've seen, he definatley does lead a double life in that he is a doctor, but once again, that's really just a means to an end. I think he could really care less about saving lives (Tsubaki for instance)
He did have a pretty twisted childhood, so maybe if someone took the time to help him out, I wouldn't discount the posibilities that could bring about. But, i don't know if i could picture him activley looking for that. And i know nothing about Ukyo, so I can't make any comments on that.
lol, maybe i'm reading too much into this. or maybe my love for hisoka is taining my view on the doctor

@__@ I don't know what I wrote earlier either, that's not even bad spelling that's all out poor english, I was just pointing out that Muraki's words for Ukyo would confirm a lot of what other people have said. And I think the votes also say a lot for what people think about shipping Muraki as he and his wife is far ahead. Kis4me, your view on Muraki may not change but it may gain a new insight when you reach the kyoto arc in the book. It's like volume 7 and 8.

Looks like I'm the only one who voted for MurakixHisoka^^
I really have no idea why I did it. Generally I'm a TsuzukixHisoka fan. But I think the next best pair for Hisoka is Muraki. waa!!!!!! why did I ever think of that!. Honestly I hate Muraki for what he did to Hisoka, but then again I'm glad Hisoka died because he meet Tsuzuki. Muraki and Hisoka kinda have similarities between them, Muraki is full of hatred as Hisoka is, as Muraki said Hisoka is like a copy of him^^. And they look the almost the same in their teen, some poeple even mistake the kid Muraki with Hisoka.
Waaa! why I'm I thinking this way I must be crazy!

I think I a little bit how suzoka feels. But in my case, I voted for MurakixTsuzuki. HehHeh...
But what bothers me a bit is that those who voted for MurakixUkyou refer to Ukyou as his wife. She's NOT his wife yet, she's his FIANCEE. That is if she'll even live due to some unknown ailment...that prevented her from growing?
|
admin
|
I know Ukyou is Muraki's fiancee but I also always make that mistake of calling her his wife myself, dunno why. I'm not the only one either.
I second everything Suzoka said, well most of it anyway, about Muraki and Hisoka's rage, the book 3 comment about Hisoka being a copy of Muraki and the fact they look EXACTLY the same when their younger. And when I was on the internet once, I saw a volume 7 manga scan of Muraki when he was younger, but on the site the picture was actually labelled Hisoka. Hahaha!
I think its a dodgey dark pairing though. Strangely enough I wrote an AU fic for it that's up here. Dunno why @_@. MurakixHisoka is creepy, but every Muraki pairing is creepy anyway so it's okay. Let me go look at the results so far then.

I'm fully aware that Ukyo-san isn't his wife, but I'd just like to keep hope that he has SOME point in his life that is normal. XP
Soka-chan and Muraki DO look alike back then.. it's so scary!! =D I've seen pictures of the two confused, too. 8DD
It's still an awesome pairing for me.. cuz I still keep some thought of Muraki as a normal man. I hope to see the person Tsubaki-hime fell in love with.. if he even resists. XD

Ah the results are becoming a bit more even now, well all except for Saki who remains to be the least faved. *looks up to ceiling* I wonder why?? Poor Saki-kun, playing last fiddle in the votes for Muraki love.

I'm surprised to see that Muraki/Ukyou has such a strong lead. I always thought that that was a bit of a fringe pairing. It's always seemed to me like Muraki/Oriya was the most popular, followed by Muraki/Tsuzuki.

I was expecting Mur/Tsu up first THEN Mur/Ori. My opinions on Muraki pairings are pretty weak, I might argue or debate but it's really so I can learn what others are thinking and find some good work and idea's by the shippers. I think the reason why Ukyo is out doing everyone is because maybe she's the most canon. Though I wouldn't have thought that would have influenced everyones votes so strongly. But this is a topic about how people feel about pairing up Muraki so....
I have to edit this post to add something I just found. I was looking around Lj and someone who had read the manga in japanese was wondering where all this Ukyo being Muraki's fiancee came from, when it was explained to said person about Tsubaki saying so and such, he replied she only says that they were childhood friends. Someone called powercorrupts also provided these quotes from online translations:
From Dame Theria's translation:
"
Tsubaki: "Sensei has a girl he loves."
Tsubaki: "It's been...a very long time that he keeps thinking of her..."
Tsubaki: "It's a childhood friend."(Volume 3, chapter 3)
Oriya: "It's a call from precious Ukyou-chan."
Muraki: [in his own world] "The women with the crime of jilting me, Ukyou..." (Volume 7, chapter 5)
Muraki: "Ukyou....."
Muraki: Please forgive me...I...
Muraki: In the end, I couldn't help you...
Muraki: I couldn't do anything...for you...
Muraki: ".......good-bye........Ukyou...."
Muraki: "---------please......please stay well....."
Muraki: For leaving you behind
Muraki: Please---------....
Muraki: Forgive me......... (Volume 8, chapter 3)
"
From the author's notes:
"
However, he did have a childhood girlfriend... (Volume 3, chapter 2)
"
Either way Muraki does seem to care about Ukyou a lot.

actually it's generally referd to as the victim complex. it happens in real life cases of some kidnappings. the victim comes to a point where they just want to give their captor anything they want and sometimes they misinterperate this in their own minds as they've fallen in love with their captor. then suddenly it's not about getting free, it's about protecting them. if done right in a fan fic it could work, but i really don't see Hisoka just out of the blue falling for Muraki. XD i do enjoy writing onesided MurSoka fics, but i refuse to write NCS so Tsuzuki always comes to his rescue before it gets too far. Those mostly come about when someone's been particularly mean to me.

My first choice is Muraki/Oriya, mostly because you never see Ukyou, and Oriya is so obviously in love with him. If there was more of Ukyou, they'd be my first, but as it stands it's Muraki Oriya. Though I also like to write little one shots where Tsuzuki is almost willing to go along with whatever Muraki has up his sleeve. And I like to torture Hisoka when I'm in a kill something mood. XD and The idea of Muraki/Watari, or Muraki/Tatsumi has crossed my mind once or twice. Can I say Muraki/everyone?

I believe you mean Stockholm Syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome is a psychological response in which a captive or victim falls in love (or is at least extrememely loyal to) their captor or abuser. It is occurs when the abuser/captor has control over the victim/captive's survival, but the abuser shows "kindness" to the victim (such as not killing them). It's a survival skill; to stay alive the victim becomes hyperaware of the abuser's needs, to the point where s/he loses him/herself.
A vital part of Stockholm Syndrome is that the abuser must, at the very least, keep the victim alive. Muaki killed Hisoka. Hisoka's never been given any reason to think that bonding with Muraki would help him survive.
Stockholm Syndrome comes on fast-- sometimes in as little time as three hours. If Hisoka hasn't shown shown signs of it yet, it's unlikely that he will.

aha. i've just always refered to it as the victim complex.

Sometimes, I think both of the sydromes add on to the Tsuzuki and Muraki thing.
After all, you do have to remember that there are two sides of Tsuzuki- the kind side that fits so well with Soka-chan..
And the 'evil' demonic side. For me, it's like that part of Tsuzuki is crying out for somebody to hurt him.. Strange masochist-sadist thing.. yah know? But on the other hand, he's still that delicate person that he always projects.
So Muraki.. could go well with the evil!Tsuzuki..
I dunno. XP

People talk about Tsuzuki's "evil side," but I don't think there's any proof that it's actually canon. He does flip out in the Kyoto arc, but even then he's still trying to help Mariko, even if it's in a terribly bizzare way (licking her severed head). He's animalistic, but not evil.

The licking of the head is because Tsuzuki is trying to heal her (even though she's clearly already dead)
His evil side... is a strange concept. He has clearly done something terrible in the past even though it is never truly explained just what it was - and he obviously has great power. His unnatural eyes and non-human dna make me think half demon (as his mother was supposedly human but we no nothing about his father)
So evil? no... he regrets his actions. But demon? most likely. It just depends on whether people think demon and evil are the same thing. I personally, do not.

"Kagema are not allowed in here!! Not on my watch!!"
*Oriya kick*
"Its not what you think, Oriya"
"Shut up you beast!"
That is one of my all time favourite moments in YnM, it really is, lol.
