Rants:[Tsusoka defence ff.net] (by Coco)

Yes this a YnM lyrical and poetry forum. But if you read the descripition, it is also a rant forum. So I will use this thread to paste rants I made on ff.net concerning defending the Tsusoka pairing. Feel free to put any rants in this forum. I think it helps if you don't wanna always have to repeat yourself.

Please feel free to offer your own two cents on what I said back then, and post replies on these rants. Okay here I go:

Ahhh those were the days, my views may have changed in some places who knows-but please have a look and comment:

First Rant
Tsuzuki and Hisoka are the pairing that people are simply just jealous of. I'm sorry other pairing fans but you know I'm right. Your jealous. Tsuzuki and Hisoka are the most strongest shounen-nai overtoned couple in the book and series, and they have strongest bond.

And because some fans like other characters better, they'll twist things in their head so they can warp the story into something it has no basis in. I like crack pairings, and don't mind seeing Hisoka or Tsuzuki with other people but it has to be done right. Fluff with our favourite duo and Muraki??-I think not, not unless you are a master writter and are able to write something unfathomble whilst SOMEHOW making it believable at the same time. Hah good luck though!

Tatsumi and Tsuzuki make me feel sad. I think underneath, Tsuzuki is a depressed, lonely needy man futilly fighting insecurities. His the kind of friend that would sup you of your energy trying to help them and STILL wallow broken and self-pitying. They'd drag you down and drive you insane like themselves. This is what happened between Tatsumi and Tsuzuki, Tatsumi saw Tsuzuki before he cheerfully brought others up whilst hiding his pain behind pretty smiles, and ate cake and was cute and bouncy. He couldn't handle it of course like any other human, that coupled with the issues he had with his mother and he cut ties with Tsuzuki, hurting him in the process, but doing so as the only way to save himself, or both of them. He tries to take care of Tsuzuki at a distance, almost pushing him onto Hisoka most of the time.

To be fair though, I don't think Hisoka and Tsuzuki would be as close if this side of Tsuzuki was revealed to Hisoka when they first met. Hisoka had no expierince comforting people then, and wouldn't know how to interact with a clincally depressed Tsuzuki, nor could he take those emotions. At the same time there is greater potential for Hisoka and Tsuzuki because they balance eachother out and have both expierenced similar pain, as well as the fact they both mirror Muraki, Tsuzuki and Muraki being Descendents of darkness, Hisoka and Muraki being like copies of eachother, they have a links with darkness more then other Yami characters. Plus Hisoka's mental strength would always ensure that regardless of any circumstances, there is a chance for a future, he being mentlly stronger then EVERY Yami character, including Tatsumi, who broke down/faultered when it came to those flames, where as Hisoka just flew in.

In any case, Tsuzuki and Tatsumi are given minimum significance in the series and books, their relationship being more like a sad flutter in the background, I don't think it would work out, anything that could be said already haven been said. And I'm talking from a personal point as well so I know what I'm saying.

Ah, I knew laustic from way back then too, she made a point like: The other characters I notice tend to coddle Tsuzuki, which is something he does not need. Hisoka gives Tsuzuki sympathy and empathy which is what Tsuzuki does need. Hisoka snaps Tsuzuki out of his personal hell whenever he gets depressed over a case or his personal demons.

My response was this little rant:

Second rant
I agree, Tsuzuki hides his pain and I think the others do kind of encourage it by coodling Tsuzuki a little too much, or by just going along with those masks he continues to wear, where as Hisoka is more direct, he refuses to be pushed away, and just says it how things need to be said, there's no mind games or tiptoeing, and those Tsu crocidile tears that seem to get even the wall strong Tatsumi have basically no effect on Hisoka. Plus Hisoka's empathy makes it more difficult for Tsuzuki to hide, so theres that chance that he'll, in the end, have to confront his problems, no breaking down, stiffening, crying, running away, self harm or suicide attempts, because he'll have a reliable aid of mental strength by his side that won't let him and a reason to live and fight for.

The fact that Tsuzuki has that sympathy means that Hisoka may eventually face the problems he has as well (which are many), especially that bizzare obsession with power!-gaud!!, and that disturbing anger and (though understandable), really unhealthy desire for revenge, one almost as bad as Muraki's, (*note* that Muraki was upset Saki died because HE wanted to kill Saki, and that Hisoka was upset in Vol 3 that Muraki died because HE wanted to kill Muraki himself), Hisoka has some dark tendices that need attending to, and to stop repressing his problems and focusing them on revenge and power, because such things will not clear his pain. Tsuzuki's attitude of sympathy and kindness and compassion stand as an example and can teach Hisoka who has only known cruelty in his life how to simulate such things, how to focus energies on more positive and cheerful things, and most importantly Tsuzuki's excessive sympathy will coax Hisoka out of his shell without the fear that he'll be defeanseless with it gone, because Hisoka won't be, he'll have a loving family in one partner who can wrap him in the kinds of emotions his been starved of i childhood.

Hey even in the programme the Chief and the Count are discussing how they deliberately paired those two up!! Because they kinda knew what would happen and the maturity between the two that would take place.

Balances?

Hisoka: Emapthy Tsuzuki: Sympathy
Hisoka: Mental Strength Tsuzuki: Physical strength
Hisoka: Adult attitude but teenager Tsuzuki: Childlike attitude but elderly wisdom
Hisoka: Unwanted Tsuzuki: Needy

Sorry for writting so many essays, I must be Tsusoka repressed or something!! anyone know any other balances?

Rin wrote a rant on Tsusoka, I said it was well done, and she posted this reply: o__O i sent my essay to a friend who doesnt hav e a penname on fafnfiction, but she argued me on EVERY DAMN POINT... she said that muraki could give them the same thing and so could tatsumi without being less annoying AND she said green and purple go horribly together. im sorry, but muraki can NOT give hisoka the same genuine love as tsuzuki and he cant give tsuzuki anything. period. and tatsumi? tatsumi being with tsuzuki only has potential BEFORE he meets hisoka. and tatsumi being with hisoka is just wrong. *sigh* i know one of us is nuts and for the first time, its not me.

Believe it or not, she is actually on the forums, she like, just doesn't post. Anyway back to the good old days. This was my response:

Third Rant: Part One
I don't think Tatsumi has it in him to define whatever he feels for Tsuzuki, though there's an obvious kind of fixation he has with Tsuzuki, like the whole maturnal-motherly taking care of him thing he has going on, you know-wiping Tsuzuki's face, scolding him, taking him out when he needs cheering up, all that, does exsist, but he can't do it on a daily, in your face, everyday, basis, he just can't, only at a distance,

why??..

..because Tsuzuki causes him too much pain in a close relationship!

The fact that he left Tsuzuki to save his own sanity and the fact that Tsuzuki felt abadoned by him,(Tsuzuki did afterall trust Tatsumi enough to be open with him, even if Tatsumi couldn't handle it)makes me think that Tatsumi feels GUILTY, I mean he is rather attached to Tsuzuki and feels 'something' for him but can't define or face what it is, which proberly causes him even more pain through it's confusion, Tatsumi doesn't like to angst you know. Anyway, those 'feelings' and 'guilt' strengthen Tatsumi's desire for Tsuzuki to be happy, even though they can't take being together.

To put his mind at rest and his guilt at peace he just needs Tsuzuki to be happy, when Hisoka arrived on the scene it was the perfect oppotunity for Tatsumi, he ushers the two together because he knows instantly that they'll complement eachother, and that Hisoka would stay with Tsuzuki longer, possibly forever, something they couldn't do, and that there's a good possiblity that Tsuzuki and Hisoka could find happiness together, unlike him and Tsuzuki who were destructive together and just tore eachother apart. He even admits at one point that he hates Tsuzuki, though I think Tatsumi was just saying that out of emotion. In anycase, having Tsuzuki with Hisoka works best for Tatsumi, he knows that Tsuzuki is content with his new partner who is practically outlasting all the others incuding himself, and that Tsuzuki is just close enough insight to keep an eye on, while being far away enough not to cause him or Tsuzuki any harm or suffering.

Look if anyone wants to argue my point I can happily pull out manga and anime quotes because this isn't my own ideas or stuff people say, or stuff other characters have said or even what my eyes have read or watched, most of that above ramble is stuff TATSUMI has said himself, yes, TATSUMI, he said almost EVERYTHING I've written above, so why on earth people put Tsusoka down and mentally replace it with this couple confuses me. There may have been a chance for this TatTsu couple BEFORE Hisoka, but for lack of better phrasing-'they both screwed it up'.

I Do however, believe that the world is a funny place and theres a chance for ANY relationship if the participants are willing to put the energy in. There are also flings and quick touches. But I can't see any reason why Tsuzuki and Tatsumi would drag themseleves through the pain of the past again when things have moved on and they can find happiness in the future. They have both made it clear where their heart is, even when Tsuzki is being taken out by Tatsumi to cheer him up, his moaning about it, wanting to get back to work and Hisoka, Tsuzuki wants Tatsumi to be around because his one of his friends-yes, but he wants Hisoka as his partner-his willing to live for Hisoka as Kyoto shows-he even calls the near destruction of his OWN Shimigami's imaginary world CRAP, in comparison to the missing Hisoka,-I mean cold-but wraps where he stands pretty nicely.
Tatsumi didn't want to comfort Tsuzuki, he wanted Hisoka to do it, he doesn't wanna have to go back, he doesn't want to end up back to Tsuzuki and his problems again, that doesn't mean to say he doesn't feel for Tsuzuki, just that he doesn't wanna get 'caught up' in feeling for Tsuzuki, as much as we all love Tsuzuki, the world doesn't revolve around him and Tatsumi has his own 'after'life to think about.

To sum up, in fanfiction anything could work, if we're talking about the potential relationships in the canonlized manga and anime, NO Tsuzuki and Tatsumi don't even come close to the two characters at the forefront of the story, Tsuzuki and Tatsumi are the past, Tsuzuki and Hisoka whatever is forthcoming.

Third Rant: Part Two
To move on, I never really have much to say about Tsuzuki and Muraki cos theres just SO LITTLE there. I just can't understand it, is it cos people find them both 'so hott' so they think they'd be 'so hott' together. Or something. Muraki is obsessed with Tsuzuki-yes, I think maybe being a child all alone with the issues our dear doctor had, there was a sense of 'awwww' kindred spirit, someone like me, that blosoomed upon seeing that photo of Tsuzuki, he became infatuated, he found a fellow descendent of darkness, he learnt all about Tsuzuki, 'that night', his abilties. Anyway after Saki, 'hurt someone he loved', and made Muraki very very angry, he remembered something!! Hey what about that guy that's like me, *cough* yeah Muraki has a geunine affection for Tsuzuki as their both alike in their own dscendents of darkness ways, he thinks Tsuzuki's body is pretty nifty as obtaining what he first desired as a doctor which is a perfect self-healing form AND he's quite happy it is a form thats pretty attractive as well, but all this meant very little when making love to Tsuzuki was a far less fun joy then playing mind games, cards, and overall hacking the poor sod to bits in order to sow/glue/pin whatever him on to his half-brothers dead corspe.

Sorry my friends but Tsuzuki is just a means to an ends, all that homosexual teasing and murdering is just to mentally weaken Tsuzuki enough to take him, cos Muraki can't face Tsuzuki physially, his just too powerful, but mentally-HAH, piece of cake, a few sexual suggestions, a touch of darkness to offset the one caged in his soul, a corspe or two or three hundred and fifty, and Tsuzuki breaks down, easy for the taking. Muraki isn't interested in a relationship with Tsuzuki, he already has a fiancee, who he loves dearly and dies thinking about, he doesn't think about Tsuzuki as he burns, in either the book or the programme, in the programme he last thoughts are of Saki, in the book, his soon to be wife. Not Tsuzuki. Why? Because as much as he enjoys Tsuzuki's company and having his evil way with him, and the geunine affection there, Tsuzuki is just a means to an end people, a means to an end.

Third Rant: Part three
Almost done...

There is no love lost between Hisoka and Muraki cos there weren't any to begin with, its a nice idea for non-con, torture, dark fics, but if anyone can point out where Muraki gives Hisoka declarations of love please do, if anyone can show me where Muraki give Hisoka any respect or even calls him 'Hisoka' and not 'boy', please do because I'm so perplexed. Rape is a power crime, its not sex, it's not love, its not even lust, its power, Hisoka probably just reminded Muraki of apart of himself he didn't really like, plus Hisoka looks suspciously like younger Muraki and even more so like Saki, so naturally Muraki made the poor kid suffer and killed him. End of.
Though Hisoka saw the crime, Muraki could of just erased Hisoka's memory and let him go, but he wanted Hisoka this 'copy' of himself as Muraki puts it in volume 3, to suffer, rather silly considering that Hisoka is nowhere near as mentally weak as Muraki, rememberng true strength is endurance and not random evilness, and is why Muraki absolutely just finds Hisoka to be the MOST IRRITATING person like ever, forget love bewteen them, Hisoka is a constant NUISANCE, he just keeps getting in the way, over, and over, and over, and over, and over, Muraki tries tying him up, killing someone he loves, and just picking on Hisoka but he keeps coming back, like a nit or something, and he can't even hurt Hisoka because although Tsuzuki won't fight or kill for himself, he is pretty unstable and very particular about those he loves getting hurt, if Muraki touches a hair on Hisokas body, his screwed, he managed to protect Hisoka and totally blow up the building with Muraki in it in Nagasaki, could you imagine what he could of done having known how resililent Muraki is to dying, he would have gone all out, I mean could you imagine if Hisoka actually died, Muraki wouldn't be in any volumes or arc's again! No seriously. That hovel of a burning building at the start would have been his grave. Finished. Dusted. So we know Muraki doesn't like Hisoka, Hisoka is just a pretty little doll that has an annoying habit of fighting against it's strings. And Hisoka HATES Muraki, I can feel those hate waves raditaing off both the book and screen, and who can blame him. He aims to kill Muraki, not bed him. Are we all reading and watching the same programme people. Muraki is one of Kurosaki's greatest source of pain, and also one of his main focuses for revenge. He'd rather maim the man then have him touch him again. He CRIED even more at the end of volume 3 when he recounts Muraki saying he was like him. Oh no, people, only in a far away AU or AR world are these two going to be on ANY kind of, near, civil terms.
laustic

I have to say that I'm glad you brought your rants over here so everyone can read them. I know I enjoyed reading them.
