Running in Place
It's not easy to have this gift.
It's tireing and sometimes painful.
But I help a lot of people too.
That makes it worth it all.
Sometimes I really feel like i'm running in place, not getting anywhere, not helping anyone.
And then a case so profound and meaningful comes along and I sit back and marvel at how it's helped me.
One example was a young girl.
Her only reletive had died and we had to find a place for her.
She was only ten but far wiser than her years.
I had a moment of total doubt and she lifted me out of it with some strong advise that I still give out to this day.
She likened my gift with that of a doctor.
Because of Muraki I didn't quite like that at first, but her words make perfect sense now.
I explained that this empathy was only hurting things this time, I wished I didn't have it.
She looked me in the eye and spoke in such a grown up tone that I was forced to listen.
As though she were centuries older than me.
She said this.
"Hisoka-san...you are like a doctor. You try every day to save someones life. You want the best for them even though you don't know them. You love them even though you've only just met them. You sometimes lose them but in the end you've saves more lives than you've taken away. Without the scalple, a doctor could not safe a life. Without your gift, you can't either."
This can be applied to almost anything.
So when I feel like I'm running in place...I think of her.
And now I tell you that whatever you're doing, whatever battle you're fighting, you are like the doctor.
You have a special gift somewhere inside of you that if you didn't have, you couldn't be where you are today.
Running in place is easier than finishing.
Are you running in place today?

Wow, that was great. I don't think I've ever read a Hisoka pov quite like this before. Its pretty different and definitely a fresh take on his empathy by likening it to being a doctor.
