I had a hell of a time writing this. For some reason my muse just did not want to work with Watari/Tatsumi.

“You wanted to see me, Watari-san?” Tatsumi asked as he closed the laboratory door behind him.

Watari was seated, and writing furiously in a notebook, muttering all the while. He didn’t look up.

“Watari-san?” Tatsumi tried again. “Watari-san!”

Watari nearly leaped out of his chair. “Huh!? Oh, Tatsumi, hi.”

Tatsumi felt his eye twitch. “You wanted to see me?” he repeated.

“Yes!” Watari beamed and nodded. “I need you to help with an experiment.”

“Me?” Tatsumi was puzzled. Watari never asked him for help with his hair-brained schemes. He used the more gullible Tsuzuki.

“Yes,” Watari confirmed. “It has to be you.”

Tatsumi was intrigued despite himself. One thing you could say for Watari, he was never boring. (Actually, there were several things thing he could say for Watari, but he would never admit to them. It would be… unseemly.)

Tatsumi arched an eyebrow. “And what will I get in exchange for participating in your foolishness?”

Watari grinned. “That’s up to you.”

The cryptic answer piqued Tatsumi’s curiosity further. He thought carefully. “Against my better judgment,” he said finally, “I agree.”

Watari’s grin grew even larger, to the point where it was in danger of leaving his face. He step closer to Tatsumi, hesitated a moment, then wrapped his arms around the other man and kissed him deeply.

Tatsumi’s first reaction was shock. Then his analytical mind started up. The kiss was firm and confident, and he could still feel Watari’s smile against his lips. It felt…very good.

It was Tatsumi who broke away, looking unsettled. His protests, however, died when he saw the look on Watari’s face.

“That was nice,” the scientist sighed.

“Um, yes.”

Watari’s eyes glinted. “But, one successful experiment does not a conclusion make.”

Tatsumi paused, then smiled. “Very true.”

They took a long time experimenting.

Mmyes. Every scientist (and grade school child) knows that the last step of the scientific process is to REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT :3

Hehe I loved the little throwaway lines in here like "it would be.. unseemly" and "gulliable Tsuzuki" Haha
