Yami no Matsuei News (keep up to date)

Rules on the uptodate news thread

Here is to be used to post up news on Yami no Matsuei on the state of Yoko, information on the progression of the story as a whole, like the hiatus situation, when the next book is going to be released any rumors concerning another hiatus or sidestories etc etc, or a simple up to date news on the plot itself and whats happening.

Make sure to header your news if you want to add or discuss anything-to indicate whether your posting general information or plot information in case someone may be interested in learning when the next book will be out, but may not necesarilly want to know whether Muraki is still alive or about Tsuzuki's past. For example Manga vol.11 plotline news or general news: new sidestory , breaking news: second anime series . This also allows those who no more then anyone else in the forum to post and discuss plot revelations more freely and others to skip through.

General News Report

General news

I've learned that some people don't know all this, so to keep up you all up to date, my first report post will be about the condition of Yami no Matsuei at this moment.

I'm not sure if the situation has changed but I last learned that the hiatus is over. That is Yami no Matsuei will be continued. The next book is either due to be out very very shortly, or is already out.

There has been two side stories out so far which I will post links to in a minute. One being a rather general look at a typical day in Tatsumi's life, and the other introduces our first look at Ukyou, Muraki's mysterious finacee who pays a visit to Oriya.

The first thing you are likely to notice is the distinct change in style. Yoko has changed her manga art style, loosing a lot of the extravagance Yami no Matsuei art is known for, also a lot of detail in the eyes has left also. Some prefer the new style claiming the old far to over the top, many prefer the old claiming the new to be too simplistic, eitherway many fans are happy that the story will be continued. Here are some links to the sidestories and some information:

Sidestory scans:

Tatsumi

(this is found on kat.com, there is also a comedy scan on the site which is rather humourous to read)

breaking news: reason for changing her style?

In response to what coco have said I'd definitely prefer the old style better. also I have found some info shared by fellow fans about her reason as to why she changed her style. I put a question mark in the subject becuase I'm still at the process of confirming this news myself.

Quote:

actually i also heard from somewhere that she decided to drastically change her style. I think it was in an intervew, she mentioned that she hates yaoi or sth and so will make the characters less pretty and the interactions between them less suggestive.
i hope i just read it wrong. But the newer releases do look quite different from past volumes. sigh

Yami no Matsuei stopped in Mid volume 12 (supposely if it have been bounded) since that time Yoko Matsushita sensei had hurt her right wrist. (I don't knpow about the Publisher side story) and that was a long story long ago. and last time I heard of her, she was practising using her other hands. Her side story chapters (one about Tatsumi and the other on Oriya and Muraki's childhood fiance) - but I forgot wer I saw it. -__-;; - were done using her other hand. so the art may differ a little

not sure wen sensei will continue the manga

I didn't edit a single word on this quotes.
I got this info from two different sites and I myself was wondering what is Matsushita-sensei's real reason as to why she changed her style.

And the first quote is really killing me *cry* [I'll get really frustrated if it's the first]. ~don't mind this shounen-ai/yaoi fangirl ^_^ ~ I was wondering ' if ' she didn't like yaoi, then why did she include the St. Michael arc which has yaoi in it?

the second quote seems reasonable, but I want to know the truth.
or if it's neither please tell me. Crying or Very sad

o.o the yaoi thing...wow. that's a good question. XD but sorry, volume ten speaks for it's self. perhaps if she says she doesn't than she's in denile. But also the word Yaoi is created by fans of anime. in Japan it's not actually a real word so if they're saying she actually said "i don't like yaoi" than it wasn't a real interview...

it's also possible she's getting slack from it. she's mentioned in a few of her side notes that her fans weren't happy with the shonen-ai undertones, and flat out said in volume four that she might lose readers because of he st. micheal's arc.

twee twee, coco, thank you for posting!!!! i have Wakaba the link too.

Is that what she meant by all her negative comments in the st micheals arc. I forgot that there's also a large base of non-shounen-ai fans for YnM though in book 4, I just thought she wasn't happy with the story, she kept complaining about it, even though it had beautiful art, followed on from devils trill and was more darker then her other stories.
I thought it was pretty good, and was confused as to why she disliked it's outcome. But now you've said that, it makes more sense. Do you have any quotes from her side notes that state her fans were unhappy with the shonen-ai overtones.

And also would that mean that Tsusoka fans won't get the happy shonen-ai ending they may be hoping for??

I never realized that she said she may lose fans over the St. Michel arc.  I thought she was just unhappy with the story because it didn't turn out the way she hoped it would.  I also didn't realize many fans didn't like the bl hints.  That surprised me the most since pretty much from the get go there have been tons of bl hints so I admit I find that a bit hard to belive.  But who knows, I could be wrong.

I also keep hearing different things to as why she went on haitus.  First I heard she hurt her self then I read she had a disagreement with her publisher not I'm hearing its because she hurt her wrist.  Which one is the truth?

Until I read from a reliable source, I'm going to continue to believe that she doesn't have a problem with bl and that Tsuzuki and Hisoka will get together in the end.  YnM has been going on for years.  If she really had a problem with it or if the fans had a problem with ith then she would have had dropped the hints a long time ago.
Paurie

Doesn't like yaoi?  lol  Poor Muraki.  I know that he isn't completely gay, that his character likes what he likes, but there's still the fact that he raped Hisoka and "loves" Tsuzuki.  So, I doubt that little reason.

I always thought that YnM wasn't yaoi/shonen-ai, simply that it had strong hints of it since it's mostly about male characters and each have a strong connection with one another.

As for the style, I liked the style of her art through volumes 3 to 6 the best.  I've never not liked the art in any volume though.  So, this new style doesn't bother me at all as long as it's...continuing.  I don't have a damn problem at all!!!  <3

It's really true, though?  That it's continuing?  I felt happy tears in my eyes at the news...

Maybe this isn't the place to ask this question but I've been checking out the Hana to Yume site to see if they have a email address but I haven't had much luck finding it. Maybe I'm being blind and can't see it but does anyone know if they have one and where I can find it? I've decided that I will email them to see what's going on. I plan to ask the question in both English and Japanese so hopefully I'll get an answer from them. I'm just so frustrated in waiting and I just want to know what's going on.
Paurie

(hah, just saw this)

Sorry... I've tried looking and clicking around on there, too... =( But I can't find it either....

*sigh* Had a dream volume 12 came out. XD
laustic

I'm so frustrated by this. I wish we can have a clear answer from Yoko.
Paurie

I usually keep up with "news" of the YnM series by checking out wikipedia every now and then.  Well, this is sort of new to me.

Quote:
However, Yoko Matsushita has recently ended the hiatus, and is continuing with the manga - however, because of her hand injury, she has had to adapt accordingly, and so the artwork is a little different.

Anyone else know about this?  I know Wikipedia isn't enough to get proof from, but I'd really like it if this were true.   I hope, I hope, I hope.  ><
laustic

I have heard about her hand injury before but I wasn't sure how accurate the information was.  I tried looking up information about it and I couldn't really find anything.

I love her early artwork (Ynm vols 5 & 6 in particular), but as long as she continues with the story then I don't care how different the artwork is.
Paurie

That's exactly how I feel.

And don't worry, I'm posting this question like... everywhere.  LiveJournal and Aarin Fantasy for starters.  One person on LJ believes it's true and sent a link but I can't download rar stuff or something.

I've actually heard people call her new style ugly and say "the characters aren't even the same to me anymore" and blah, whine.  I just wanna hit these people and say, "Uh, are you a fan or what?!"  XD  That's like telling your friend, "Sorry Julie.  With that new haircut of yours... you just aren't the same!  Kay, bai!"  *hmphs*

Anyway, let's not get our hopes too high.  I need proof, darnit!  XD
laustic

I did see your post on the YnM lj and yeah, I wanted to smack the person who said that the characters weren't the same anymore.  Granted the artwork isn't nearly as beautiful as it once was, but it's not that bad!

I can't download the link either  Sad   So I guess we'll have to wait and see.  i truly to hope that this rumor is true.
Paurie

Aw, well if you've been reading those replies on LJ, the most recent one is saying that there was nothing new to the japanese wikipedia about it.  :C  So yeah... it might've been someone who just saw one of her side stories or something.

I will still hope though.  For forever!  XD
laustic

That is a little disappointing.  However I will keep hoping  Smile

It was a bright sunny afternoon with a fresh breeze blowing from the northeast. The small sloop was making a series of very short tacking maneuvers as it made its way gingerly up the narrow channel.

The forest marched down the steep rocky hillsides to abruptly meet the sea below on both shores. The tiny but sturdy craft was tossed precariously by the rip tides created in the close waterway. The sole occupant reset her grip on the tiller and brought the sloop around in yet another tack headed toward a little niche in the eastern shoreline. She was kneeling in the boat's compact

When she was about eighty yards from the shoreline she abruptly swung the boat head to the wind bringing it to an almost dead stop in the water. After loosing the sheets on both her jib and mainsails, she quickly scrambled to the bow and let her anchor line out till she felt the anchor touch bottom. She then expertly continued to pay out enough of the line to properly set the anchor, allowing for both safe swinging room as the wind might shift and the expected change of depth as the tides came and went.

She had been so occupied with the Business of sailing her small sloop, that she had not noticed that she had an audience.
world of warcraft power leveling  A tall slim young man in blue jeans, T-shirt and black leather bomber style jacket was sitting on the rocky spur smiling with open admiration at the sailing skill of the woman skipper on the neat little sloop. As she stood from securing the anchor and started to lower and tie down her sails, he arose and quickly walked back up into the trees behind him. So she never knew that her arrival had been noted.

When the sloop was secured to her satisfaction, Katherine went below and put a tiny kettle on the single burner in the diminutive galley. As she waited for the water to boil, she pulled a thick dog-eared ring binder out of a  wow gold  shelf to the left of the companionway and opened it to the last entry. This book served a dual purpose as a ship's log and personal journal. She noted her time of arrival and location of the tiny sheltered anchorage, the weather which was close to perfection for a sailor and a personal note that this seemed a great spot in which to write and create.
