maya: Feathers and Lace

maya: Snow covered the ground around the palace that evening as a shadowy figure entered the sleeping princess room. He sat beside the bed, looking down at the beautiful form with a heavy frown. He gently reached out to brush the pale cheek. why did it have to be this way? why did it have to be so hard for him. Why couldn't he be in love with someone normal...someone he could have? But the task at hand was far more important than his feelings. "Princess..." He whispered softly, gently patting her cheek.

Silent: The princess slowly stired, her eyes flickering open; adjusting to the darkness of the room. It took her a moment, but once settled her eyes settled on the prince. She stared for a moment and quickly slapped his hands away from her cheek, "What do want!?" She snarled. It was the middle of the night and everyone knows not to disturb her when she slept and there were no exceptions.

maya: The prince frowned deeper. He had expected such a reaction. she likely thought he was a servant or something of the such. "I appologize your highness." he bowed low to her, his long dusty blond hair falling over his face. "But your presence is requested immediately in my kingdom."

Silent: "You're kingdom!?" She retorted, "I will not go anywhere with the likes of you!" Have had just about enough she snorted and inhaled before calling the guards, "Guards! Gaurds! Gau-" She was cut off by a cough, once followed by many other as she slipped in to a coughin fit with her left and over her mouth and her right clutching her chest through her night gown.

maya: This worried him. but it worried him more that she may have actually allerted te guards. he reached into a pounch hanging at his side and pulled out a small vile of purple liquid. "This will take a while to take effect." He took the hand covering her mouth and lifted the vile to her lips, "it's best to drink this now. it will help your caugh."

Silent: She pushed his hand away from her mouth, "For all I know you could be trying to poison me!" The fit had left her in a weakened state, but that didn't stop her from trying to scramble out of bed. Her heart was pounding and her body was trembling from fear and anger. She knew she couldn't win a fight against him and hoped her yells had woken some of the guards, but she had yet to hear any foot steps.

maya: He sighed softly. he didn't want to do anything drastic but it was imparitive. he knew she wouldn't understand until she was there, but the most important thing right now was to give her that liquid. he would be lucky if it was working by dawn now. he threw his head back quickly and poured it into his own mouth. without giving her a second warning he caught her around the waist and swung her around to face him. he tilted her head back quickly and kissed her. as he kissed her he slowly released the liquid into her mouth. even if she didn't take it all, he could give her more later once they were home.

Silent: Her eyes widened as their lips met, causing her fingers to curl into a tight fist. She began to punch and push him away as hard as she could, but her energy was fading quickly. She tried keep from swallowing the strnge liquid, but was forced to do so or she ran the risk of choking. But even as the intesity of her hits was fading she continued to try and push him off.

maya: He stepped back a bit, taking her by the shoulders once half the liquid was given her and swallowing the other himself. "There." he was still calm but he needed to get her out of there quickly and with the possibility of being caught by the guards wasn't worth going out the front. 'be mean!' he told himself. he'd tried so hard to prepare for everything but he was such a kind hearted man and it hurt him to have to take such measures. "Princess..." he whispered as he didn't try to stop her. what she didn't realize was that he was wearing padded chest armour in case he was attacked by a bear in the woods, and he wouldn't have felt it if she'd punched him dead in the gut. but that was okay. not letting her know these things would make her feel less voulnerable. "Please listen to me. my kingdom is depending upon you to survi..." he stopped as he head a voice in the hall. "damn..." he looked down at her.

Silent: She was panting as her arms fell limp. Times like these. Times were she required strength, were the times she wished she were healthy. She loved being pampered more than anything in the world, but at times it was against her will. After catching her breath, his words filled her ears and brought a frown upon her pallid face, "I don't care!" She broke free only to stumble and fall back. The floor felt cold against her hands, sending a rush of goosebumps up her arms. This made her shiver, but the frown on her face remained, "You're kingdom, huh..." She glared at him, "I want nothing to do with it. There are better things I could be wasting my time with,"

maya: He took a deep breath. not only was she weaker than him, she was a totally different race and he had to remind himself that humans were prone to anger and to get her to where he needed her to be, he had to act human. A look immitating her own came over his face. he wasn't angry, but he had to look bigger than her. to scare her so he could leave. he drew himself up, making himself appear bigger and taller than he normally was and glaired down at her before pulling a ribbon from his pouch. he knelt in front of her and spoke harshly even though it was quite against his personal morals. "hush or i'll make you sleep until we get there! my hourse is just outside."

Silent: Her eyes grew wide once more and her heart was pounding furiously against it's confines. The effect was instant. Her breath shorted and became labored. She clutched her chest as she had done so many times in the past, but this time she wasn't going to let it stop her. She scrambled backwards trying to get away from him, growling in an attempt to hide her growing fear. 'Why hadn't the guards come!? Why!?' She thought, but decided to make a last ditch effort, "Guards! Guards!"

maya: He growled as he heard the footsteps. "damn!" he yelled as he stood and grabbed hold of her by the shoulder. "i warned you!" he pulled a small cloth from a different pouch and pressed her body close to his as the guards rushed in, swords drawn. he glaired at them and from his finger tips, strange stones appeared. he angrily threw them to the ground at the guards feet and cages of lightning sprung up around each. he then pressed the cloth over the princess mouth so that she breathed in the fumes of the cloroform as he dragged her backwards. "i'll return her in a months time un harmed!"

Silent: She clawed at his hand trying to remove the cloth from her mouth while reaching out to the guards. However, the more she inhaled the less effort she put into removing his hand. Her vision soon became blurred and the sounds around her began to sound far off into the distance. She clawed till the very last moments when she finally went limp.

maya: He breathed a sight of reliefe for that and picked her up bridal style. that would be the easiest. with a glance back at the guards he disappeared out the window, gently floating down onto his horse. after a few moments of riding at top speed he snapped his fingers and the stones greated him again melting into the palm of his hand. a head he saw his glimmering city. a city only those who drank from the lotus could see. he was born with the lotus blood in his veins so he'd never have to drink from it again. but his princess, she would need another dose in the morning if she was to see more than half of his kingdom. hings could get a little strange for her if she could see everything around her except the flowers and the people. the poor girl would think she was insane...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
maya: The prince had laid her in a soft bed where the next morning found her.
Silent: She awoke the next morning feeling weakened and grogy. Her headspun slightly, but she soon caught her barings as she sat up. Rubbing her eyes she began to think back at the events that occured and shook her head, "Such a crazy dream," She muttered while opening her eyes. An audible gasp escaped her lips, "Where am I!?" She frantically felt the bed before getting up, "Where in the blazes am I!?" She asked again, demanding answers from the air around her. She found her head spinning once more and steadied herself against a bed post. She could feel the tears of anger welling up in her eyes.
maya: The door opened after a short knock, but there was no one visibly there. "My lady." there was the sound of a soft femenine voice and the ristle of fabric. "Please do not rush about so muchwithout the lotus. you may run into someone." A soft and very small hand took hers.
Silent: She had fallen to her knees, her weight now being supported by the bed frame. She looked up bleary eyed and could see no one. Quickly whiping the remaining tears away she looked around frantically, "Who's there!?" Her heart nearly jumped into her throat and out of her mouth when she felt a hand touch hers, but once again saw no one. Yanking her hand away she hugged her trembling body, "I've gone mad...I've lost my mind" She whispered to herself.
maya: There was a rushing sound of fabric and the light scent of strawberries. " come now your highness. if you wish to get it by yourself than just sit at the table here and have some strawberry tea. i'll put the lotus in the tea so that as you relax you can see us. believe me my lady, i am very real and very solid. our prince must have given you too little."
Silent: She didn't know why, but she was compelled to follow the instructions. Perhaps it was the smell of strawberries or the soothing voice that calmed her. Despite it being a disembodied voice. Take a seat at the table she fumble with her fingers as she set them on her lap, "P-Prince?..." She stuttered, her body still trembling.
maya: "Hm..." The sound crossed towards her and a vile similar to the one the prince had the night before was suddenly visible and was pourd into the tea kettle. "do you take sugar my lady?" There was a pause as a spoon lifted from the table and stirred the tea. "You are not aware of his highness? he brought you here last night my lady." the spoon replaced it's self on the table and there was then silence.
Silent: She eyed the vile cautiously, "No sugar," She said plainly, her fear swiftly dwindling. She took the cup and gingerly sipped the tea letting the cup warms her hands a bit, "If I knew about the Prince I wouldn't be asking you now would I?" She snapped before once again sipping the tea.
maya: The woman took advantage of the princess not seeing her yet and rolled her eyes at the girl. human royalty was so difficult. "Prince Aldralyde is the current and soul heir to the kingdom. i'm sure he'll explain the dire situation this puts him in. but he's not quite of age yet to take the thrown from his mother." she looked towards the door as there was a soft knock. "the prince seeks an audience with my lady. shall you permit him entrance or shall i tell him to return when my lady is dressed?"
Silent: She had continued to sip her tea while the woman spoke, "Such a sob story," She said huffing and shaking her head. Glancing toward the door she frowned once again recalling the events of the previous night, "Since I am his guest, I'll make him wait. I deserve sometime to myself," Finishing off the tea she set the empty cup on the saucer, "Now, what will I be wearing?"
maya: The woman grinned. "well." She went to the dresser beside the winder. "That depends on if you can see me yet or not."
Silent: She looked at the woman from top to bottom. She didn't know when it occured, but she could now see the woman, "I see you clear as day... Now, what shall I be wearing?" She asked once more, this time her tone had a bit more bite to it.
maya: The woman kept her straight face straight as she pulled out a tree branch and procided to hang several dresses. "With you're eyes I'd suggest the blue, but the yellow may come in handy if his highness takes you on a ride to view the rest of the kingdom today."
Silent: Smiling as sweetly as she could she stood from the table and walked up to the blue dress, "It would bring out my eyes, but no," She looked over the yellow dress and rolled her eyes, "I despise yellow..." She raised an eyebrow, "Have anything in purple?"
maya: "Which style do you like best? i can have the color changed quickly enough. unless you think his highness has waited long enough?" Though her face remained ever emotionless there was a tone of amusement.
Silent: "Something sleek and regal," She stated while folding her arms over her chest. She couldn't help but smile mischeviously, "He will wait till I am satisfied with the way I look..."
maya: She bowed. "very well my lady." She chose a dress that was the style the princess asked for. it was a red dress. "this will be qute easy, just add blue." The tree branch took the rest of the dresses back. "just add blue." She closed her eyes and concentraited on the dress. it began to be washed over in a blue mist that slowly dyed the fabric the appropriate color. "five minutes to dry."
Silent: She tapped her chin with a solitary finger, "What about shoes, accessories, hair..." She listed off in a slightly annoyed tone, having become acustomed to her servents already knowing what she would ask for. But despite her slight frustration she wanted to keep the prince waiting as long as possible. He deserved that much and more.
maya: The servant nodded and took a pair of shoes from the other side of the chest and matched their color to that of the dress. "I'll call for a hair stylist my lady. as for accessories..." She went to the door and opened it, calling down the hall. "The princess is in need of the jewlery." A very handsom guard down the hall approached with a key. he glanced at the princess for a moment with a frown. "His highness has a way of choosing brides...." The maid took the key, ignoreing the comment, though she fully agreed with it. She then turned to the princess as the guard went back down the hall to his post. "I'm afraid only royalty may open the door." She held out the key. "The room is this way." To the side and at the foor of the bed there was a door in the wall which was locked by three locks. this door at the moment was unlocked and the maid lead her through it into a sitting room. off to the side of which was yet another door with as many locks as the first. "in this room there is every accessory you could imagine, and some you cannot."
Silent: She eyed the shoes and gave a slight nod. She had better shoes back home, but those would do for the moment. Watching the guard enter she eyed him for a moment, her face contorted into a frown, "I am no ones bride you lowly guard." She claimed matter of factly, huffing as she watched the guard leave. The comment had slightly aggrivated her, but she tried her best to brush it aside. Looking back to the woman she took the key and followed her, "So far the only good thing I've about this kingdom. Good thing to keep precious things under lock and key." She smiled and giggled, "Kind of like me" After following the made into the sitting room she approached the second door and hesitated, "Is this one key supposed to open this many locks?"
maya: She nodded. "It's a magic key. when you unlock the first, the key will change. and when you unlock the second, it will change again. it's easier than having sets of keys. The prince has the other key. This room however can not be opened unless the person trying to open it is from a royal family. it cannot be broken into either." She again ignored the comment about the princess being kept under lock and key as she would later be told of the circumstances that had brought her to the palace.
"Magic key...Is that so..." She shrugged and inserted the key into the first lock and only managed to turn it once before a dizzy spell overcame her. She leaned against the door as she waited for it to pass, legs feeling as it they would give out at any moment. Small whimpers escaped her lips, but she still attempted to turn the key.
maya: "My lady...are you alright?" The woman was afraid to move. if it was her master she knew he'd want her to send for the doctor. but she knew nothing about this girl.
Silent: She fell to her knees, on hand still on the door while the other held her head. She began to feel an all too familar feeling. The air in her lungs seemed to be leaving faster than it was being replaced. "Can't...breathe..." She gasped the words before she fell into a slight coughing fit. The result of her body trying to reopen its airways.
maya: She frowned and rushed out the door. within moments the prince was beside her. He stared down at her for a moment before lifting her from the ground. "We're going to have to do something about this..." He carried her back to the bed and laid her down, covering her up. After a moment more, there was a man who appeared to be a doctor approached the bed. "You master..." He placed a hand on his shoulder and the prince moved aside to let him work. He placed a small crystal to her throat gently. it began to glow and he could see inside her. "I see..." He looked up at the prince with a heay frown. "i can give her something temporarily but it may not be permenent."
Silent: The princess was still gasping as the prince carried her over to the bed. Unable to speak she could only watch as the doctor placed the crystal on her throat. She began to wonder what kind of medicine he was going to give her. All the medicine she had taken back home was always some foul tasting liquid. She hadn't noticed but during all her thinking a frowned had formed on her face. It really was some foul tastinf stuff. Sometimes she wondered whether her parents were trying to get rid of her instead of helping her.
maya: "My lady..." The prince whispered softly. "What ails you?" He gently reached out and brushed her hair from her face. "I puzzle that our doctor doesn't even think he can cure you. i realize human ailments are quite different from ours, but i've yet to come across anything he couldn't fix."
