I find that pretty fortunate since some of the work he has done I would never have watched and they turned out to be really great. |
Awesome, I was right! I love playing that game... "What's that voice over from?!" XD It took me a while to place his cause he sounded so much more...... adult. X3 _________________

| Yeah, I remember watching the show on Cartoon Network and I kept thinking 'That sounds like Hisoka.' For the first few episodes he goes by another name and then he's credited as Liam O'Brien for the rest of the series. |

Oh, and I love how "DIE!" translates into "Eat this!!" XDDDD _________________

I really dislike the dub with a passion I'm afraid. I saw the sub first, and to me those voices are the characters. I think they emote better with their voices. I actually really like Hisoka's japanese voice, it breaks perfectly for the crying scenes, and Muraki's voice is amazing, I don't think its sexy enough in the dub. I also dislike that Hisoka seems to sound older than Tsuzuki in the dub. I think my biggest hatred of the dub though is that it ruins the end of the Kyoto arc for me. The moment Tsuzuki replies to Hisoka's plea of wating him to live with "well that's a little bit selfish now isn't it Hisoka" I just feel bleh, FAR prefer his response in the sub and manga, it seems more in character.
To be far I rarely like watching dub, so it was always going to be unlikely I liked it _________________ ~*~*~*~*~ ~*~*~*~ |

Subs for teh win!
I HATE HISOKAS ENGLISH VOICE!! I feel no emotion for him when he cries/is upset in the dub. In the sub I think the voice acting is believable and I feel really bad for him and want to give him a hug or something - but his english voice? The acting is terrible. The end of the kyoto arc (like blue-emotion mentioned) it just makes me cringe. But in japanese its really emotional.
Also... Muraki's voice in japanese is just pure sex. XD _________________

OMG, How could you hate Liam O'Brien as Hisoka! I thought he was absolutely brilliant. He was much, much better than the Japanese actress who did Hisoka's voice. *shudders* I absolutely loathe when female voice actors portray boys.
I wasn't impressed by Muraki's Japanese voice (then again I wasn't that crazy about the English one either). I thought he sounded bored playing Muraki. I don't know, I guess I could never figure out why people get so excited over his voice. I think he's pretty overrated. |

I wasn't fond of Muraki's English voice - but I really did like the Japanese one - nice and deep and sexy - and his laugh is just awesome XD! (both his normal(ish) one and his maniacal one)
As for the hisoka English/Japanese debate - while I DO agree that its a shame he has to be voiced by a woman, her emotional performance is miles better than the English version. Its sad that such a wonderful anime (which is very emotional at the end) just makes me laugh when in English. Its not hisoka's English voice in general that i dont like - its the poor emoting. _________________

Eh, me and my friend felt plenty of emotion from Hisoka in the dub.
If anything, his voice over might not have sounded young enough, I dunno. Still very good and FAR better than what COULD have been done. Dear god, we know how the ladies over here sound when they try to sound.... boyish. XD;;;
OMG, since Watari has an accent, it'd be pretty funny if they'd given him a southern accent in the dub. *lawls* XDDDD
Er... I'm glad they didn't.... but... hehe. XD _________________
