The emotive thing I agree with. I think yes, the dub isn't great, but I feel like there were overlooked potential in places. Tsuzuki's voice I felt could have suited him if the actor just worked on it more. There was one scene where he was saying that he 'just wanted to be human', we all know that scene people ^.^, and Hisoka's comforting him. Anyway in the sub he sounds geuinely broken and sad, whereas in the dub he sounds more bitter and resentful about it, and just that difference in tone can change a characters personlity significantly.
Hisoka's voice in Japenese is more emotive than the english, it could have been deeper or more boyish in sound but the manipulation in tone and expression is very talented and well done, it gives the desired effect and thats whats most important. Again, maybe with a bit of work I could have liked Hisoka's voice actor more in the dub, reminds me a bit of Kaworu O.o before it goes all guttural and too aged. Tatsumi sounded too young to me (younger than Tsuzuki at times), but again the voice wasn't awful, with a bit of work, it could have been better and actually suited.
I mean lets be honest, there is NO technical reason for western voice actors to not suit anime characters, the characters have more western appearences anyway. So like, whats the problem?
(question was rhetorical by the way)

LOl. they all sound pretty bad in english.
I feel sorry for Muraki, Hisoka and Watari the most.
I mean come on now. Couldn't they find someone better to voice these parts.
Hisoka sounds like he's older then Muraki.
Muraki sounds like he's got something up is nose.
and I don't even want to say what poor watari had to endure.
