Question.....What on earth is a "Mary Sue"? I've heard the term many times, but I still don't understand what it is....

I just realised JiHyes post WAS actually good enough for FF.net. It seems you've had a lot of good advice JiHye, and you also reminded me of a thread I wanted to start.
Anyway a Mary Sue is like a perfect character with no depth, their just annoying, there's Gary Sue as well for the male version.

And they're usually there to be paired with the author's favorite character.

*nod* I've seen too many stories with Hisoka and an OC, bcz Hisoka's so 'pretty' and a bunch with Tsuzuki and his 'forbidden love', oddly named after the writer. Huh.
I've seen a few with Watari and an OC. They didn't do so well. Probably bcz Tatari is like.. HUGE, next to Tsusoka. XD

Sure, why not? But I agree with what you guys said before.
One thing I'm totally against is when the oc gets to be a lover to one of the headcharacters, they should just be friends or relatives or something like that.. |
