Welcome!!! =D The person who got me into YnM liked Muraki. X3

Um, don't be scared? If someone is an ass to you because of your favorite character, I suggest that person get out more. XD Cause... "Whoa, calm down... It's fiction, kay?" (Hah, as if I wouldn't fight to defend my fav. character... X333 Who is TATSUMI by the way.)

I used to like Tsuzuki... but something happened(Rhea) and now I like Tatsumi(because of Rhea). X3 <3<3<3<3 I also like to RP as him. :\

Anyway, hope you like it here. :333 Stick around. =D

JiHye don't poke me.

Urgh! I'm not just late, I'm practically lagging.

Welcome to our humble forums. First off, you have NO reason to feel defensive about like a character, if you like Muraki fair dues to you.

I was intrigued by Muraki and it was HE that attracted me to Yami no Matsuei. Muraki makes YnM what it is, he contributes to the characters suffering and the problems they have to overcome because they have to bond closer with each other in order to overcome them. At the same time he's fascinating and complex, sensual, beautiful and insane. He's sadistic, dark and offers an interesting slant to the phrase, judging a book by it's cover, especially with that whole profession versus hobby thing. (Saves lives for work, destroys them for fun)

The more complex the character the more complex my feelings for them. To me, it all boils down to one thing, and this is how I cope with characters like this so I can evaluate them safely and neutrually in my own mind.

Character and Person, are different.

As a character Muraki is amazing, Yoko has created a brilliant antagonist, displaying him as both a victum of circumstance, and a maker of victums of circumstance, which is uncomfortable to watch and read, having to share sympathy for the innocents of a cruel man whilst giving him sympathy for having cruelty done on to him at the same time. As I stated earlier he's intelligent and beautiful and has amazing screen presence through sublties like body language and other characters reactions to him. So as a story makers character. Yoko did an amazing job, Muraki is very real and very intriguing, he makes you want to read the manga more and watch the anime more to find out what he's going to do to these next-whether in anticipation, or in dread.

As a person Muraki is cruel and unjustifiable, why should all these people suffer through no fault of their own, guaranteed if a guy like Muraki was on the news fans of the character wouldn't go, awww that poor person who had trouble with he's brother as a kid, it's fine for him to rape and murder those people-oh my he's so attractive. To me there is only forgiveness in he's destruction, because why should I forgive the actions of someone who isn't sorry, if Muraki got he's karma and was finally destroied, there would be forgiveness in letting go in order to move on and put the past to rest. That is all. I feel sorry for Muraki the child, but Muraki the adult who's path diverted away from where Muraki the child probably first wanted to go, I feel no sympathy for him.

Overall its about balance as someone earlier said. For me it's easier to split more ethically questionable characters like Muraki into two groups, Character (objective) and Person (subjective). Or else I get baffled @__@.

See, a new member and we're already having serious conversation all thanks to Jessie_luvs_Muraki lol.

YES.

Some of my favourite characters are the most obnoxious or downright evil people ever. When I list their negative traits, I'm not bashing them. It's because of those reasons that I DO like them. I don't want to excuse their issues or pretend they don't exist, because I find perfect characters to be quite bland. In fact, most of my favourite characters in YnM aren't the nicest. Tatsumi can be cold and sometimes hurts the people he cares about. Touda openly admits he's a bit of a tosser, and walks away when Hisoka was in danger. It could be argued that Tsubaki 'used' Hisoka when she was in love with someone else. Whether one of my favourite characters isn't very nice because of personal issues or just because they're unapologetically evil, I still love them for it Surprised

And back on the original topic, hello Very Happy

Muraki Muraki Muraki

I like him... kinda... untill I become my Hijiri-ish self and realize Hijiri looks exactily like Hisoka and were it Hijiri in Hisoka's place, Muraki would have raped him or something or maybe he'd keep Hijiri as his doll too to have a "matching set" as it was put to me by either Rhea-sama or Yami no Kaze at some point.

I don't really have much of an oppinion and am extremely conformist no matter how hard I try so if you give me a good enough arguement, I'll fall for Muraki just like I have for Watari, Tatsumi, Hisoka (no arguement there), and Hijiri (no arguement there either). ^^ peace!

omg thats so Libra. I'm the sameway most of the time. Everyone should be pretty much certain how "it's all good" I am when it comes to characters and pairings. Sell it to me and I'll buy ^__~
