He really is a vague character- we're getting to know even Watari through the series, but Tatsumi simply remains as THE secretary of JuOhCho, no?

Kinda scary, how mysterious he is, while he keeps such a huge presence.

Really? I think we know more about him that we think.

It's Watariwho we think we know but actually have a lot less information on.

kinda creepy, how they can make such a huge impact on the story so. Even when they were hacking into Mother. =X

I think it's because they weren't really cemented as characters in the story by Yoko until later on. In fact Tatsumi didn't get much attention until book 5. But thanks to that book and other info, we have MUCH more info on Tatsumi than Watari. I like Tatsumi. I think he's one of those characters that grows on you over time. He's not as immediately flashy or interesting as a lot of the others- he looks quite normal, he doesn't have a tragic backstory brought out as soon as you meet him, he doesn't seem outwardly 'dangerous', he's a fairly sober personality that isn't immediately established as cute/hyper/angsty/etc.. it takes a while before you find out about his past, his ability to manipulate shadows, and so on.

I agree that Tatsumi often handles things poorly when it comes to Tsuzuki, but I like him for that. Not because I think it's admirable, but I think it's an interesting character flaw- he clearly does care a lot for Tsuzuki, but he's not very good at coping with this sort of thing at all.

but somehow, I don't believe that Yoko intended him to be such a strong character. Maybe a bit like Tsuzuki- a minor character, but look at him now: leading man, WHEE. maybe a bit like that- and it certainly shows in the later books.
