I've actually wanted to ask this for a while, but...

what the hell IS 003? 8D; I mean, an owl can't be a living owl if it's in Meifu, but why would a dead owl want to live in Ju-oh-Cho?

(it just occurred to me, this one: wouldn't it be loads of fun if 003 turned out to be the Shikigami Emperer? *dies*)

anybody have any answers? XD;;;

I think Watari created 003 as well as the other birds he has in his lab. I recall reading that somewhere.

In sidestory 'bout Tatsumi we can see, that 002, the penguin, is actually a robot (souns strange... mechanical animal?- sound like Marilyn Manson ^^). So I think that 003 could be such a robot too. A friend of mine once suggested, that Watari had drawn 003. It would be more romantic, but as it (003) can make holograms from it's eyes, I think, it's a robot.

Another question: is 003 male or female? First I thought it's a feme, but just because words "owl" and "tree" are feminine in me native language. But translators say, that Watari probably calls 003 "he". So, what do you think?

I thought 003 was a girl. There was a scene in the manga when Watari was talking about how he would love to be the father of a bride and there was an image of 003 in a wedding dress. Aside from that I seem to remeber Watari referring to 003 as "her."

Well, in my fandom 003 is usially "he". That's the pluses of english fandom, you don't have genders for every single word >.<

we know that sinigami work in pairs. Watari is alone in gis sector. May be 003 was his partner, but he'd once tryed Wataris variation of sex changing potion and it turned him in am owl! Shocked

I once had a fic where there was said, that Tari is actually a wooman... so why don't you try to write a fic about owl'partner?
